Did you know there is an easy way to discover new people to follow in five different ways on Twitter? There's a Discover feature that has 5 functions to allow you to find new people to follow.
The first option is Tweets. This option shows you the most popular Tweets on Twitter at the time you are looking. Some Tweets will be specific to your interests based on who you are following, retweeting, etc., while others will be globally trending tweets. You will have the option to follow the folks making those tweets, retweeting, etc.
The next option is the Activity tab. This shows the interactions of people you follow, including their latests retweets, replies and favorites, allowing you to do the same as well as follow the people they retweet.
The Who to Follow option provides you with suggestions of people similar to interests you have recently followed as well as accounts that are flagged as interesting that might be of interest to you.
The Find Friends option allows you to import contacts from your contact book and see if they are on Twitter. If they are, you can easily follow them.
Finally, the Popular Accounts option creates a list of some engaging and followed accounts on Twitter. This list is created based off your interests.
If you're looking for new people to follow on Twitter, Discover is a great way to go about doing it!

Tuesday Tips: Create an Ad About Your Page
There are many ways to advertise with Facebook to get your company and your social media presence out there. The first way to do this is to simply advertise your page. There are many ways to do this and Facebook offers some pre-made ads, complete with wording and an image of your logo, etc. to help make this easier for you.
As always, you can customize the text and image.
It is advised for promoting your page, to promote it to friends of fans, hopefully getting those who are friends of fans see their friends like the page and they in turn like the page to see what the company is about. After a few weeks of that, change your target beyond friends of fans. Try locations, interests, and broad categories and demographics to help get the word out there and potentially get more likes.
Keep in mind, this advertising is focused on promoting the page itself, not the posts on the page. We'll get to that in a future tip.
Tuesday Tips are a series of tips released on Tuesday each week regarding a hint or tip to help you manage and market your Facebook presence better. You can find all the Tuesday Tips by clicking on the Tuesday Tips tag below.

Wednesday Words: Viral Marketing
We've all seen the ad that gets shared by all of our friends, our friends' friends and our friends' friends' mom (if she's on Facebook/Twitter/Whatever Social media). They shared the video because it's cute or "you have to see this, it's great" and that becomes the next thing that has been viral marketed.
That's what today's word is: Viral Marketing. Viral Marketing is a risky technique where marketers hope that users share the information to each other repeatedly leading to wide coverage and interest.
Unfortunately, there is no sure fire way to create a "viral video or "make something go viral." How viral something will be is impossible to predict. Basically it comes down to something that strikes a chord with someone and it gets shared, it strikes a chord with others, shared and goes from there.
It is definitely a risky marketing technique, especially if you invest thousands of dollars into creating a video that you expect to go viral and it doesn't.
So if you're looking into viral marketing, just remember, it's not a guarantee of marketing success.

Tuesday Tips: Advertising with Facebook
This post isn't necessarily a tip, but rather an explanation about the posts I'll be making in the coming weeks, including Tutorials for Facebook advertising.
The next few weeks topics will be talking about paid advertising with Facebook, the various things you can do, various audiences to target and why to do so. There are mixed feelings from many folks as to whether or not you should pay Facebook for advertising.
Ultimately, Facebook is a free service and you get what you put into it for marketing. Many people thought marketing would be free, but Facebook saw it as a way to monetize their system and, let's be honest, it's a reasonable expectation to pay if you're going to be promoting your company for free outside of your promoted posts via Facebook.
There are many theories behind what happens when you pay for advertising that I don't intend to go into in my posts, but I will share them on Fridays and Saturdays which are reserved for sharing articles from other social media blogs and sites.
Do you have any experience with advertising on Facebook or other social media sites? Would you be interested in guest blogging? If so, contact me via Facebook PM here.

Wednesday Words: Clickbait
Today's word is Clickbait, or as I love to put it "Bad headlines that don't tell you jack about the story." Which is pretty much what Clickbaiting is. Clickbaiting is writing a headline that encourages readers to click on it to find out the whole story. They are designed to pique your curiosity and are often headlines like "You Won't Beleive What Happens Next" or "This One Weird Trick Works". Then you find that you actually do belive what happens next or duh, of course that trick works.
As of this year (2015) Facebook is actively working against Clickbait articles, trying to have an algorithm to where they don't appear as high in feeds when shared by folks and the origial poster. I applaud Facebook for taking steps to exterminate clickbaiting.
If you are considering sharing clickbait articles, please don't. It's annoying and only makes people distrust you and your brand. Create unique, intriguing article headlines that attract people rather than creating a lie to draw them to your page and website.
Good luck!
