Thursday Tutorials: How to Pin a Post on Twitter

Thursday Tutorials returns with a fairly simple tutorial. A few weeks ago in Tuesday Tips, we suggested to pin a post in Twitter. Today, we go through the steps to learn how to pin and unpin a post on Twitter.

First, Login to Twitter.

Once logged in, click on your profile image either on the left or at the top right. If you click the left image, it will just take you to your profile page. If you click the top image you will have to choose to visit profile. That should take you to your profile which shows all your posts.

Find the post that you want to pin and click on the ... (more) option on that post to create the drop down menu seen below.

Select "Pin to your profile page" to pin that post. Once you do that the following message will pop up on your screen.

Click Pin and that message will disappear and the following message will appear.

Click on view now to see your pinned post.

You can tell when you have a pinned post by the "Pinned Tweet" and thumbtack icon that's shown in the red rectangle above.

If you want to unpin the posts, you follow steps much similar to pinning the post. Click on the ... (more) button to bring up the options.

Select Unpin from profile page. Just like last time, a confirmation window will appear, similar to below.

If you are sure that you want to unpin the post, simply click unpin.  Just like before the confirmation message will pop up like below:

And with that, you're done. Pretty simple like I said.

Keep your eyes open for other tutorials.

Wednesday Words: +1 button

Every so often you'll see an icon (much smaller, however) like this one to the left below a post. This is Google+'s version of the "Like" Button that Facebook has. The +1 button is proprietary to Google but basically does the same thing the Like button on Facebook does meaning "I really like this idea and I'm showing my support by sharing it by +1ing it"

The icon below posts are white until you give them a +1. Once you +1 it with your Google+ account it becomes red so that you know you've liked and shared it.  Pretty neat huh?

If you haven't messed around with Google+ or the +1 buttons, you should check it out sometime.

Wednesday Words are a series of definitions released on Wednesday each week regarding a word found specific to Facebook's social media platform, or may be a generic word dealing with social media. These definitions are to help provide you with a better understanding of common and uncommon terms associated with Facebook and social media. Tuesday Tips: Forget what you know

Sometimes the most important thing to remember when taking on social media as a new way of marketing is to forget what you know about traditional marketing because social media marketing is a different beast - sorta.

Danielle Cormier, Social Media Community Manager for Constant Contact advises people who are new to social media marketing to "Forget what you know about traditional marketing, use social media to focus on getting to know your customers.”

And the advice makes sense. Once you learn the ins and outs of social media, you can start incorporating traditional marketing into it, but remember that there are still things that are unique to social media where traditional marketing won't work for it.

Just something to keep in mind as you learn the ins and outs of social media.

Tuesday Tips are a series of tips released on Tuesday each week regarding a hint or tip to help you manage and market your Facebook presence better.  You can find all the Tuesday Tips by clicking on the Tuesday Tips tag below.

Missed a little more than a week - sorry about that

I forgot to see when my posts had run out for the month and with a few other things happening (most noticeably needing a cortisone shot in my foot and hurting my shoulder) I thought I had posts scheduled through Memorial Day and the following week and did not. Doh!

That said, we'll be getting a lot of other posts ready for the upcoming month as well as a teaser as well - we'll be launching a totally different site later this month. A soft launch will occur a week from Monday, official launch is July 1. So be sure to check here for posts related to that in the future.

As always, if you have any questions related to social media terminology, tutorials or anything else, please feel free to leave them in the comments sections.

Thanks and have a great week!
