Saturday Sharing: How to Measure Social Media/PR Impact

"How do I measure the impact of social media or a PR campaign for my brand?"

This is a questions asked by many different people, from the social media manager, to the PR manager, to the Marketing Manager and even the CEO.  Unfortunately, the answer isn't easy.

Today's shared article is from SEO Book and it covers just this topic, including the fact that there is no standardized way to measure ore report social media impact - which is something that anyone new to social media needs to know.  It is also important for any one in charge over you to understand this as well.

The article also covers things that should be measured, what to look at and questions to ask yourself as you consider measurement statistics.

Wednesday Words: Skype

Today's word is technically not a term used in social media so much, but is often used for conversation and messaging - especially with gaming or business and is often linked as a way to contact someone either within LinkedIn or Twitter and Facebook.  That word is Skype.

Skype is a free messaging program that is available for XBox, PC, Mac and almost all mobile devices which allows users to text, call and video chat each other.  Users can also purchase plans which allow them to receive phone calls via their personal Skype account.

Any two people with Skype accounts can contact each other for free using this program.  It's a great way to communicate with people overseas or without normal phone service.

Wednesday Words are a series of definitions released on Wednesday each week regarding a word found specific to Facebook's social media platform, or may be a generic word dealing with social media. Tuesday Tips: Remember to Like Your Own Page's Posts

Whether you are the only person posting to your Facebook brand page or if you have other people posting to it, there's an important thing you and the other posters should be doing:  Like your page's posts as your page and as yourself.

Rick's Daily Tips has an awesome article on why you need to be doing this.  If you don't believe me, maybe you'll believe him.

His article, found here, explains why this works and why it's important.  Basically, friends can see things you like if they have their friend news feed ticker turned on and may be interested in something you like and click on it to read more about it.   If you're wanting your friends to see and interact with your business - especially if it's a local business - then this is the way to do it.

Remember: Like your brand's post as yourself.  Be sure to change to posting as yourself before you click like.

Tuesday Tips are a series of tips released on Tuesday each week regarding a hint or tip to help you manage and market your Facebook presence better. You can find all the Tuesday Tips by clicking on the Tuesday Tips tag below.
